QWhat’s the difference in the cut between a rotary mower versus a reel mower?
A Reel mowers shear the grass like scissors and deliver a more precise cut, unlike a rotary blade which tears the grass. A sheared cut yields a greener and healthier lawn. The scissor cut heals quickly and causes minimal disturbance to the natural growth pattern. The grass is cut in place, reducing the vertical height, but leaving the grass with blades of varied lengths for maximum sun exposure. There’s a good reason why reel mowers are the choice of golf courses.
QHow much does the Mantis Reel Mower weigh?
A Just 24 lbs/11 kgs... so it's easier to mow, and it's easy to take to your weekend getaway or down to your allotment.
QWhat is the advantage of the battery-powered reel mower versus regular push-mowers?
A Reel mowers used to be heavy and clunky and required a lot of effort to push. The Mantis Cordless Reel Mower takes a fraction of the effort. Powered by a 24-volt NiCad battery, it mows up to 2,500 sq. ft. (up to 30 minutes of mowing time) on a full charge.
QWhat is the advantage of the Grass Catcher?
A The Grass Catcher saves you having to rake the grass cuttings…and makes it easy
to recycle clippings into the compost bin.
Mantis Reel Mower Operating Tips/Advantages
QHow long must I charge the battery?
A When you first receive your Mantis Reel Mower, charge the battery for a full 24 hours using the supplied battery charger. Afterwards, 12-24 hours. The battery reaches its full
capacity after about 5 charging/discharging processes.
QWhat happens if my battery runs out of power before I'm finished cutting?
A No problem. The Mantis Reel Mower can be used without the battery, as a hand-pushed mower, so you can still finish cutting your lawn.
QHow often should I charge the battery?
A We recommend charging the battery immediately after using your mower.
QA thin metal gauge came with my mower, what is it for?
A It is a thickness gauge to reset the gap between the cutting cylinder and the blades. The blades are set at an optimum setting when the mower leaves the factory. After a year or so, you may need to reset the blade gap if the mower cut is no longer clean. It's a quick fix that is listed right in the Owners Manual.
QHow do I clean my Mantis Reel Mower?
A Clean the mower with a moist cloth. Spray the cutting
cylinder and lower blade with a low viscosity oil, such as a spray
oil. Brush away any build-up of grass or leaves on the blades.
